New Years Inspiration

I am not the type of person to set new years resolutions or anything, but Id like to share a quote that I'm using as a basis for my attitude this year:

"A girl should be two things: 

who and what she wants."

-Coco Chanel 

I love this quote because of the empowerment it gives women, and its from a very successful businesswoman, Coco Chanel. Coco is most famous for being a French fashion designer and businesswoman. She made her living designing haute couture and her wildly popular fragrances. She was born into poverty in the French countryside, and grew up in an orphanage after her mother died and her father abandoned her. Some of her top accomplishments include:

1.  In the 1920s she introduced the Little Black Dress to fashion.

2.  She appeared at the opera house with short hair, inspiring many women to adopt the new boyish style, starting yet another trend that hadn't been seen yet.

3. Opening her own hat store, which soon sold clothes and started her fashion career

4.  In 1921  she created her first perfume-Chanel No 5-which was the first fragrance to bear the name of a designer

5. She created the Chanel suit - the first time women wore anything resembling menswear. 

I think this quote sums up what advice Coco Chanel would give anyone - do what you want!!
